Spring Break Camps at the Virginia Living Museum offer hands-on science adventures designed to spark curiosity and connect kids with the natural world.
From exploring tiny ecosystems to discovering the diversity of the animal kingdom, campers will learn through experiments, outdoor exploration, animal encounters, and behind-the-scenes experiences you can only find at the Museum.

Ages 5–7: Animal Kingdom Explorers Young nature lovers will journey through the animal kingdom, discovering fish, birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. Each day focuses on a different group of animals and what makes them unique—from feathers and fins to scales and fur. Through hands-on activities, stories, and outdoor adventures, campers will build knowledge and confidence as junior animal experts. At the end of the week, they’ll step into the role of a veterinarian and practice caring for their favorite animal friends.
Ages 8–11: Shrink Down, Discover More! Older campers will zoom into the miniature world to uncover big discoveries. Each day explores something small but mighty—drifting plankton, buzzing insects, mysterious molecules, and incredible micro-animals. Through engaging experiments and special behind-the-scenes tours, campers will gain a new perspective on the hidden wonders of science and nature. It’s a week of exploration that proves big discoveries can come from tiny worlds. Campers must be the appropriate age by the first day of camp to participate.
