The CNU Captains Girls Basketball FUNdamental Day Camp is designed to provide a fun, energetic, and educational experience for young athletes looking to grow their basketball skills and confidence.
Hosted at Christopher Newport University’s Freeman Center, this four-day camp runs June 29 through July 2 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and is open to girls entering 2nd through 8th grade.
Our camp focuses on developing strong fundamentals in a positive and encouraging environment. Campers will receive instruction from CNU coaches and players, emphasizing key basketball skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing, footwork, and overall game understanding. Each day includes a mix of skill stations, drills, and competitive play to help athletes improve while having fun. In addition to on-court development, we place a strong emphasis on teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence building.
Campers will participate in engaging games and competitions that reinforce learning while creating an enjoyable camp experience. Players will also receive individual feedback and a player evaluation to help track their progress and continue improving beyond camp. Each camper will receive a free camp T-shirt, and we strive to create a welcoming atmosphere where athletes of all skill levels feel comfortable and motivated.
